About the Friends

By President - Posted on 23 April 2008

The Friends of the RAAF Museum (FoRM) is a volunteer support organization providing assistance to the operations of the Royal Australian Air Force Museum. Created in 1993 the Friends came into existence through the efforts of a group of dedicated enthusiasts and passionate museum staff. The Friends was created as a conduit for raising funds, as an organisation to husband the museum's volunteers and to act as a political voice for the museum should it be necessary.

Aims

The Friends aim to promote and advance the role of the RAAF Museum in the preservation and display of aircraft and equipment of significance to the RAAF. In doing so we aim to advance the education of the public in the history of the Australian Flying Corps and the RAAF.

Objectives

  • Promote and advance the role of the RAAF Museum
  • Provide financial assistance to the RAAF Museum
  • Provide and manage volunteers for assistance with the activities of the RAAF Museum
  • Advance the education of the public in the history of the Australian Flying Corps and the RAAF
  • Promote and maintain communication and co-operation between the Friends and the RAAF Museum, and amongst other museums and people in related museums fields.
  • Promote the growth and awareness of the Friends.

The Friends fulfils its aims and objectives through the direct assistance its Active Members provide and through the investment made by Supporting Members to help fund the activities of the Friends and the museum.
